About the Artist

Sergei Dorokhov - Biography

Meet the Artist

I am a watercolor artist working primarily with landscape and transitional states of nature. My practice is centered on the observation of light, atmosphere, and temporal shifts — moments that exist between seasons, weather changes, and emotional registers. In most cases the landscape in my work is not tied to a specific geography; it functions as a contemplative space rather than a descriptive one.

I began working with watercolor in 2018, taking several months of private instruction with an established artist. After a pause, I returned to the medium and have been working more consistently since around 2021, developing a focused studio practice alongside ongoing observation from nature.

Watercolor serves as both medium and method in my practice. Through transparent layering, restrained chromatic ranges, and controlled use of water, I explore the balance between intention and chance. The visible structure of the process — washes, edges, pauses — remains an integral part of the finished work.

My works are held in private collections in Russia, Germany, and the United States.
